Where Meraqyu came from

The platform started in 2018 from a straightforward observation: most entrepreneurship content online either skips the hard parts or wraps them in motivational language that does not translate into action.

Meraqyu was built to be different — not by being more inspirational, but by being more specific. Each programme is built around concrete decisions that a new business owner actually faces: how to validate an idea before spending money on it, how to read a basic profit and loss statement, how to structure an early sales conversation. The content is sequenced so that each step depends on the one before it, which means participants are not collecting disconnected tips — they are building a working mental model of how a business operates.

What the programmes actually cover

The curriculum focuses on three areas that consistently cause problems for early-stage founders: market understanding, financial basics, and operational decision-making.

Market understanding means learning how to define a customer segment precisely enough to be useful — not "small business owners" but "sole traders in service industries who invoice fewer than 20 clients per month." Financial basics means reading the numbers your business produces, not just handing them to an accountant. Operational decision-making means knowing when to hire, when to outsource, and when to do something yourself even if it is inefficient.

The people behind the content

Every instructor at Meraqyu has run or co-founded at least one business before teaching. That is not a credential requirement for its own sake — it means the examples they use are drawn from real situations, including the ones that did not work out.

How the learning is structured

Programmes are delivered entirely online, which means participants from Donegal to Kerry can access the same material without travel or scheduling constraints. Sessions are recorded so they can be revisited, and each module includes a short practical task designed to be completed within the week.

Progress takes time. Meraqyu does not promise that completing a programme will guarantee a successful business — it promises that you will understand the decisions in front of you more clearly than you did before. That is a more honest and more useful outcome.
